Miracles of Faith Ministries-Current
November 2008
The elections are now over; choices have been made. For me, this election has not been a question about which race or gender our next president and vice president should be, but about what issues, morals, and ideologies the candidates promote, and what background they have. How truly loyal are they to our country, and what is their track record to prove it?
Now, we Christians have much to do. We are not to put our trust in politics to solve our problems in this country; yet we must get involved and do our part; naturally and spiritually. God has handed that opportunity down to us through the blood and other major sacrifices of multitudes of Americans in the past. Even though we vote and work in the natural way to have a Godly influence, we know, “The weapons of our warefare are not carnal, but they are mighty. Also, “It’s not by power, not by might, but by my spirit says the Lord.” Remember Gideon’s small army, to name only one example, when God took a little good and destroyed a lot of evil. Remember the scripture in Chronicles that says, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I --- heal their land.” 2 Chro.7:14. May God help us all to do so, and see God work with and through us!
Africa
Brother Harvey, from Ghana West Africa, was with us for about a month here on the Mission Base while we helped him with accommodations, contacts, and transportation to minister in several area churches that always want him to come when in America. We took a picture of him on the front porch of our mission cottage (his “headquarters in America”) dressed to go minister in his traditional African attire. Normally he dresses like we do, but we all enjoyed knowing more about Ghana.
I heard from Bro. Harvey recently. They are working hard, and inspite of hindrances and needs, God is blessing there. They are looking for land, (and believing God to pay for it.) to build a church building that will hold several hundred people. He told me the ministry is doing well; and about one brother in particular who was in serious condition but was healed instantly when prayed for, and is doing fine! Praise the Lord!
Youth Missionary
A youth group was forming in TN to make a very involved mission trip. They were to be in training for a few weeks, then go and work on the mission field for a few weeks in Trinidad. This was not a vacation type mission trip! Sixteen year old Jenni Weaver, felt led to apply. Thank God, there were many more applications than slots open in the group. However, that meant a large number of applicants had to be turned down. Jenni was one of the ones that was notified she was accepted!
This being the first time for their daughter to be away from home, and so far away in a strange country, I can imagine what Mom’s and Dad’s hearts felt like. But, they supported her 100%. This ministry showed support for her too; and I’m sure others did. She was able to raise the needed funds for her part of the trip. Jenni gave several weeks of her life to the mission field for Jesus. I know she will never be the same. God bless her, and all the other young people that went. And, God bless even those who didn’t get to go. May they go on to know the will of God for their lives and follow through.
Help for Haiti
Pastor Willis, whom God used like a guardian angel for my wife and I when we went to Haiti several years ago, has a little daughter who has been sick most of her life. The living conditions in Haiti are contrary to her weakened immune system, and recently she became very ill again My wife and I take high quality vitamin and mineral nutrients made by Mannatech that have helped us a lot. We took some out of our personal supply and included them with a shipment of New Testaments in the Haitian language we were sending him. She took them and is now doing better. We want to get more of these nutrients to send to her, and continue to pray for her, so she can be healthy like other children. Pray with us about this.
Then, the fact that another pastor in Haiti did not have a much needed vehicle began to weigh heavy on our hearts. Bro. Elise’ has a family, and is the native director of Here Am I Ministries in Haiti. He pastors a sizable church himself, which has a school with an enrollment of 375 kids, and a clinic under construction. All this is in a mission compound 3 hours away from his home. Also, he has other churches in association with him. With all that responsibility, he had been without transportation for almost a year.
I called Bro. Hal in AL, the new director of the American side of Bro. Elise’s group. He has replaced Sis. Icy Mae Fedrick, who went home to be with the Lord in March. I told Bro. Hal about our concern and that our ministry would like to try to get a vehicle for Bro. Elise’. He said that was a good idea and he appreciated our concern, but they wouldn’t be able to help us with it because they were in the process of getting him a diesel box truck to use in the ministry, as well as to help generate finances there in Haiti. I was excited to hear that because I think it is a great idea. With the help of a Christian dealer in Baton Rouge, we sent Bro. Elise’ a very good Honda Civic car.
About two days before Hurricane Gustav hit the coast of LA and caused the major exit of New Orleans and surrounding area, including us at Walker, it had hit the southern coast of Haiti. The news reports were confirmed through Pastor Willis and others who live there about the damage, death, and destruction it caused. He had a lot of people taking refuge in the church because their houses were gone. Because their present food store, and most of their crops too were gone, he was rushing around to get some rice to feed them. Then, Ike came along and hit the northern end of the island, doing the same type of destruction there. We were able to help with this crises in Haiti, and plan to do more, the Lord willing. Pray for all those people.
Mexico
Bro. and Sis. Wall came by the Mission Base and spent the night a while back. We discussed their vision for training native workers very well in the work of the Lord so they can effectively reach their own people. This would multiply the effect of the missionary many times over. That’s always been my philosophy, and we expect to help them with the vision, the Lord willing. There are a lot of needs to be met to carry this plan out. That includes: prayers, finances, and missionary helpers. Some of our supporters have helped with some of that already, and I hope there is more help to come.
Business Meeting
August 30th the board members of Miracles of Faith had an annual meeting. When the minutes of past meetings were read, and we reviewed the financial records, we were amazed at what all we had accomplished for the Lord since we organized as a nonprofit ministry. To God be the glory!
We invited a special guest to the meeting, young Sister Jenni Weaver, along with her parents, to tell us about her recent mission trip to Trinidad. We were all excited with her about her experiences. Pray with us for Jenni’s future in the Lord.
Discussion was held about what we all could do for the ministry to have a greater impact in the Kingdom of God in the months ahead, the Lord willing. Some good suggestions were made by different ones that I believe God will bless.
We all left the meeting with more excitement and determination. Some of the plans have already been set in motion and are working for good. Praise the Lord!
Including You!
One plan we have to do more is to provide a more direct way for you who are interested to have a very important part in what we do. I would like to ask you as an individual to pray about making a pledge to Miracles of Faith Ministries for a twelve month period. The amount you give will be between you and the Lord to decide, and it will go directly into the ministry to increase the type work you have read about that we are doing for Jesus. Your offering to the ministry is tax deductible. Also, please pray for us, and for the success of Miracles of Faith Ministries, for the glory of God.
Thank you all for your vision with us to get work done for the Lord while we still have the opportunity. May God multiply His blessings upon you as you help us share the “Good News” in the unreached areas of the world.
P. S. If you have had any trouble in the past with our ministry e-mail address; missions@miraclesoffaith.org please try again. We had a problem, but it should work fine now. Thank you.
